Seven bids were opened ranging from $1.5 to $2.8 million for the complete construction of a new building to house EMS station 1 and a new county coroner’s office. Magistrates voted approving Prodigy Construction who provided the lowest bidder at $1,521,000. The construction company estimates that the building to completed within 180 days once construction begins. The new station will be located along Armory Place in Brandenburg to provide quicker access to the main traffic flows to each end of the county. The new facility will also allow updated work areas for EMS and provide county owned office space for the coroner.<\/p>\n
Fiscal Court heard and approved the first reading of an amendment to the County Planning and Zoning ordinance which updates language related to recreational vehicles as a dwelling in a temporary instance, allow Recreational vehicle community as conditional uses in A-1, A-2, R-2, R-3, R-4, and B-1 and as permitted uses in B-2 zoned areas. The amendment also adjusts the fees, charges and expenses. <\/p>\n
County leaders approved a resolution to amend some documents and insurances related to the bonding for the Nucor project. The resolution was related to the bonding amounts raised from $1.7 billion to $2 billion and increase insurance binding on construction access to the site, which allow extra protection for the county.<\/p>\n
Several members of the farming community were in attendance at the special called meeting. No official discussion was allowed due to the set agenda of the meeting did not call for a public comment period. The next regular meeting of Meade County Fiscal Court is scheduled for Tuesday, January 14 at 7 pm.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
