Members of the Brandenburg City Council met by means of technology for a second month during their regular monthly meeting Monday (5\/11) evening.<\/p>\n
Mayor Ronnie Joyner was joined in the council room by socially distanced department heads and a camera operator for WVIH.com, while all of the council members joined the meeting by telephone. The council approved the minutes of the previous minutes for March and April. <\/p>\n
Mayor Joyner said that the city has been operating well under the current situation. He said that lobby to City Hall could reopen on June 1 if things stay on track as currently thought. He said city maintenance crews are working in two groups from separate locations in the city facilities. The public playgrounds remain closed and police are monitoring the public spaces to ensure social distancing. <\/p>\n
Mayor Joyner reported to the council that the new sidewalk next to the mural wall at the Confederate Memorial Monument has been completed. Public Works Director T.J Hughes reported the dock is ready to be put in once the river levels allow. Crews are working are about half way through installing the latest batch of new radio read water meters. <\/p>\n
Council discussed and unanimously approved a new protest procedure for bidding procedures which allows participants who can not win a bid to protest the city’s decision and allows them to work with the city in mediation or arbitration to resolve any potential dispute by providing information as to why the decision was made. It also provides a 14 day period to allow the city protection to avoid the dispute to go directly to court.<\/p>\n
Mayor Joyner said that the proposed city budget should be complete and ready to be presented to the council by the end of the month.<\/p>\n
