\nThe Brandenburg City Council reviewed the findings of the recent audit of city finances during their regular monthly meeting Monday (6\/8) evening.<\/p>\n

Dan Drane of Drane and Company CPAs of Hardinsburg presented the audit for the last fiscal year, which showed the city operating in good positive standing. He pointed out some minor adjustments needed to be made. Drane said that the City of Brandenburg is in good financial condition compared other similar sized cities. After a brief discussion, council members approved the audit. <\/p>\n

City council members heard and approved the second reading of ordinances amending the 2019-20 fiscal year budget and proposed 2020-21 fiscal year budget along with a ordinance amending water and sewer rates for the 2020-21 fiscal year. Mayor Ronnie Joyner reported to the council that a couple of bids should be forthcoming over the next couple of weeks for review related to the new waste water treatment plant. <\/p>\n

Councilman Bruce Fackler asked when playgrounds will be reopen as restrictions are beginning to ease in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Mayor Joyner said that he spoke with the health department and the decision is now in the hands of city leaders. Joyner said that the city owned playgrounds would reopen as soon as signage suggesting six foot social distancing and hand sanitizer stations could be installed to assist the safety of public health.<\/p>\n
