Police said that 23 year-old James Fields of Guston returned to a residence along Irvington-Bewleyville Road, when for a unknown reason he picked up a handgun and fired one round that struck 23 year-old Karie Dupin. <\/p>\n
Dupin was sitting in the residence with a infant in her lap with her legs crossed when the bullet went through both of her feet. Dupin was taken to Hardin Memorial Hospital by Breck Central EMS for her injuries and then transferred onto University of Louisville Hospital. <\/p>\n
After the shooting, Fields fled the scene and was located a couple miles away by Breckinridge County Sheriff Deputies Zach Critchelow and Tyler Hardin. Fields was arrested on charges of assault first degree; wanton endangerment; criminal mischief, third degree; possession of drug paraphernalia; possession of a controlled substance first degree, first offense; and public intoxication of a controlled substance non-alcohol. He was lodged in the Breckinridge County Detention Center. <\/p>\n
The Breckinridge County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by Hardinsburg Police, Irvington Fire Department and Meade County Sheriff Department. <\/p>\n
