After the half hour executive session, the council took action on approving the selection committee’s highest scoring bid for the construction and financing for the Waste Water Treatment Plant. The new waste water treatment plant will relocate the facility next to the current site in order to align the changes necessary for the Nucor project.

In other business, the council reviewed and heard a presentation by Kenny Rambo of Heartland Communications of Elizabethtown to redevelop the city website. Rambo’s proposal of over $7,000 would include a new designed website that would allow city employees to have more hands on access to post information along with a revamped reservation system for city facilities such as the rv park, pavilions and amphitheater. It would also feature a more user friendly interface to utility customers to make water payments online. After some discussion, the council approved the proposal to further enhance the city’s digital footprint and competitive commerce.

At the beginning of the meeting, Mayor Ronnie Joyner recognized Whitney Fore and presented her with a certificate for the June Yard of The Month Award. He also recognized Robert Greenwell as the July recipient of the Yard of the Month Award. Mayor Joyner gave recognition to Glenn Yarrington for his efforts and work to constructing a Ga-Ga Pit at Nichol Park as part of a community service project in efforts in Eagle Scouts.

Lee Klocklow brought findings of a review of a rezoning request by Perry Richardson on property along Ready Mix and Christian Church Roads from Industrial (I2) to Residential (R3). The purpose of the request is to allow rvs and possible mobile homes to placed on the property for construction workers of the Nucor facility to park during the construction phase. The worker’s dwellings will be a temporary arrangement as the project progresses and is not supposed to become a typical trailer park. After a brief discussion, the council voted 5 to 1 in favor of the request.

You can watch the entire regular meeting of the Brandenburg City Council meeting in our “On Demand” section.

The Brandenburg City Council unanimously approved moving forward on constructing a new waste water treatment plant during their regular meeting Monday (7/13) night.

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false
[59

0":"post-30323","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-news","8":"entry
"publishpress_future_workflow_manual_trigger":
["GET
