He will be sworn in at the next meeting of the commission. David Pace updated the council on the progress on the Buttermilk Falls Trail and the Gerry Lynn Memorial Park. He said that fundraising is still on going to collect funds to purchase four picnic tables and six benches along with trash receptacles and other items that will allow for an area to enjoy the natural space along the trail near the midway point close to the water fall. Pace said that volunteers will be needed to do some cleanup and installation of the equipment before a May 20th dedication of the new park.<\/p>\n<p>In other business, City Clerk Amy Haynes reported to the council that Bethany Abell in the office and will be transitioning to take on planning and zoning requests. Haynes also reported the new website is operating well and the reservations for the city&#8217;s camp site is steadily filling up only with some confusion on where to click to get a the proper reservation. Council members received a city issued iPad to help reduce the paper load for the council members and each received a city email address. <\/p>\n<p>Public Works Director T.J. Hughes reported that recedes and clean up is done in the Riverfront Park, the new playground equipment is expected to be installed around the first of the month. He also reported the newly purchased truck is now in service. The council approved a mowing bid from Elite Mowing at $400 per mowing for the Riverfront Park.<\/p>\n<p>After discussions, the city council voted in favor of providing the Meade County History Museum $400 a month to supplement their month to month expenses. This follows some public comments regarding the funding and fate of the effort which up until now was majorly funded by Meade County Fiscal Court. The funds are to be worked into the city&#8217;s upcoming budget planning.
