The meeting was held at the Payneville Fire Department under the comfortable weather. Sheriff Phillip Wimpee said the focus of the town hall meetings is allow the public to interact with his department and voice any concerns they have or report issues in their neighborhood. Some residents came discussed issues with speeding and reckless driving and drug activity near their home. Sheriff Wimpee believes the town hall style meetings along with community policing efforts of his deputies, allow his department to beware of more issues across the county.<\/p>\n
With those gathered Monday evening, he discussed some efforts that being developed in battling the ongoing drug battle in the county. Sheriff Wimpee said the new program will be a coordinated effort with local agencies to provide drug addicts with resources to receive help from their addiction. <\/p>\n
He said that his department is working several other on the street efforts to bring the sheriff’s department out into the community.<\/p>\n
Another town hall meeting, which could include local leaders, is scheduled for Monday, May 24 at 6:30 pm at the Flaherty Fire Department. All Meade County Resident are welcome to come ask questions or provide input. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
