Operation Dire Straits began with a plea for help from local Scott County officials. The County was ravished by drugs and HIV. The investigation has been going on for at least 9 months.<\/p>\n
A total of 10 people were busted for dealing in meth and Opana, which is often shot up. Bennito Rodriguez, 38 of Scottsburg Indiana is thought to have been the ring leader. His girlfriend 29 year-old Brooklyn Mack, also of Scottsburg, was also arrested. Other individuals from Scott County include 34 year-old Travis D Brock, 38 year-old Michael Doyle, 56 year-old James D. Haney, and Justin M. Roberts. Both Haney and Roberts were identified as the distributors. Rashawn A. Vaughn, 41 of Louisville and Rashaan S. Perkins of Detroit, Michigan were also arrested. Vaughn and Perkins were identified as the suppliers.<\/p>\n
It’s not just the drugs and addiction sounding the alarm in Scott County, but also the deadly health problems it brings with it.<\/p>\n
There are 188 people in the county that have HIV, according to state officials, making it one of the biggest concentration in the country. Less than two years ago, the county averaged 10 cases of HIV.<\/p>\n
Authorities said Friday more arrests may be coming.<\/p>\n
Those arrested face a minimum of 10 years in prison and a maximum of life.
