In a Facebook post, officials say the entire crew was vaccinated. However, they experienced a potential breakthrough case toward the end of their Brandenburg visit.

Members of the LST Board of Directors say a crew member tested positive for Covid. He was sent home to self-isolate, where he tested positive for the virus.

At the end of the Brandenburg visit, they say two more crew members were showing possible symptoms.

Officials say even more crucially, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear decided to hold a special assembly Tuesday that could possibly expand COVID safety measures.

Those in charge of the cruise say the potential for more lockdowns and their own health troubles on board were enough to make them turn around and head back to Evansville. They say safety is their primary concern.

The ship is expected to be back and docked around 9 a.m. Wednesday.
