\nA passenger tried to get a suspicious package on an airplane, prompting a shutdown of security at the Louisville International Airport for nearly three hours Tuesday (2\/09) morning.<\/p>\n

Police said they discovered some kind of suspicious device going through security X-rays that prompted them to take immediate action.<\/p>\n

It’s still unclear what was in the package that prompted the security scare. The FBI, which assisted local authorities, said the device was rendered safe and there was no indication of anything illegal.<\/p>\n

A couple hundred passengers in the security line were all moved back and told to remain near the ticket counters as the investigation continued. Gift shops and restaurants were also shut down.<\/p>\n

LMPD’s bomb squad assisted airport security along with the FBI and ATF.<\/p>\n

Several departure flights were impacted but no flights were canceled.
