Meade County Judge Executive Leslie Stith read a letter from Brandenburg Mayor Ronnie Joyner thanking the county for their partnership on the recently installed boat dock along the Riverfront Park. Magistrates heard an update on health insurance for county employees from John Beavin. The year upcoming year rate is around eight percent which is the lowest in recent years which is a savings for the county. Fiscal Court approved the proposal. The court approved the Meade County Extension Board tax rates which remain the same as last year at 6.6 cents for real property and 3.5 cents per $100 of value on motor vehicles. They also approved the Meade County Conservation District Annual Report and the Meade County Fiscal Court audit for the fiscal year ending on June 30, 2020.<\/p>\n
Sara Jo Best, Director of the Lincoln Trail Health Department and Secretary of the Meade County Board of Health presented the tax rates which also remained the same at 2.7 cents per $100 of accessed value on real and personal property and 2.83 cents per $100 of accessed value on motor vehicles. The court approved the tax rates.<\/p>\n
In other business, magistrates approved entering into a lease agreement with the Hamilton family for the Wolf Creek Boat Ramp as outlined by the Hamilton Family during the August meeting. The agreement would be for the current ramp and the surrounding property owned by the family on a 5 year lease for $1. The court approved a notice of intent for the Meade County Water District. Fiscal Court approved the appointments of Patrick Houck, John Thomas, Jamie Brewer, Janet Scott, Tom Benock, and Sam Malloy to the County Board of Ethics. An appointment for the Fourth District will be made during the October meeting.<\/p>\n
During the Planning and Zoning report, county leaders approved a request from Green Rivers Solar for a level three solar farm on five farms along Highway 79, in the Nick Mill Stretch. The solar project is apart of a proposed solar energy farm near Irvington. Fiscal Court approved a lease agreement and deeds related to the Big Rivers substation at the Nucor Steel Plant and property that was once Ronnie Greenwell Commerce Drive.<\/p>\n
Magistrates approved the purchase of an extended warranty for the cardboard truck at the Solid Waste and Recycling Center. They also approved a request of funds in the amount of $16,704 for a 24x26x8 carport, tire changer and a tire cutter for the recycling center. Fiscal Court also approved the proposal by Meade County Bank to finance the new Mack trucks for the Solid Waste & Recycling. <\/p>\n
The court approved proclamations for the Meade County Homemakers Week for October 10-16 and Kentucky Women In Agriculture Day on October 19.<\/p>\n
