On February 2, Kentucky State Police was contacted by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office requesting assistance with an investigation of a missing person case of a four-year old female that had last been seen in Dec. 2020.<\/p>\n
Detectives located the body of the four year-old in a wooded area near the 1300 block of Skyview Road in West Point near the Jefferson-Bullitt County line around 2 p.m. on Friday, February 18.<\/p>\n
The victim\u2019s body was taken by the Bullitt County Coroner\u2019s Office to the Kentucky Medical Examiner\u2019s Office in Louisville for an autopsy scheduled for Saturday morning.<\/p>\n
Kentucky State Police, along with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office and the Kentucky Attorney General’s office, charged Serenity\u2019s mother, 21 year-old Catherine McKinney of Shepherdsville, and her boy friend, 26 year-old Dakota Hill also of Shepherdsville, with murder and abuse of a corpse.<\/p>\n
At the time both McKinney and Hill were in custody at Shelby County Detention Center after being charged for custodial interference by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office. McKinney and Hill had been arrested earlier this month in Kansas on the above charges before being extradited back to Kentucky. <\/p>\n
The Shelby County Sheriff\u2019s Office, Kentucky Attorney General\u2019s Office, U.S. Secret Service, Louisville Metro Police Department, Bullitt County Coroner\u2019s Office, Bullitt County Sheriff\u2019s Office, Radcliff Police Department, Radcliff Fire Department, Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife, and the Jefferson County Search Dog Association all assisted the Kentucky State Policd with the investigation.
