Ryan Birse, 22, of Elizabethtown, was shot nine times by 27 year-old Joshua Lee Ratliff. Birse was pronounced dead at Hardin Memorial Hospital, according to an Elizabethtown Police Department news release.<\/p>\n
Ratliff entered the restaurant where he worked, located Birse and fired at him multiple times, according to the arrest citation. The incident was captured on surveillance video at the business.<\/p>\n
No motive for the shooting has been released.<\/p>\n
Ratliff then left the business in a black Explorer and led multiple police agencies on a pursuit on Interstate 65 with speeds reaching 90 MPH before he was caught. He was booked at 11 p.m. Thursday and is being held in lieu of a $500,000 cash bond at the Hardin County Detention Center.
\nElizabethtown Police Department, Kentucky State Police, Hardin County Sheriff’s Office and Hardin County EMS were on the crime scene.<\/p>\n
He is charged with murder, first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, first-degree criminal mischief, first-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), speeding 20 mph over the speed limit, disregarding a stop sign and improper passing.<\/p>\n
The shooting was reported around 6:30 p.m.
