\nThe Brandenburg City Council approved the a new water treatment process during their regular meeting Monday (7\/11) night.<\/p>\n

The council approved a bid from Water Surplus out of a total of 3 submitted bids for the project. The bid of $514,950 is for 12 water vessels that are not ASME certified. Mayor Joyner said that the current vessels are not ASME certified so there will be no difference in quality of treatment.<\/p>\n

The council also received an update on the Wastewater Treatment plant. According to the construction manager, the project is about 92 percent complete and is expected to begin the start up phase by the end of August. <\/p>\n

In other business, the council heard the first reading of an re-zoning ordinance for Greer property at 644 Broadway Street. The rezoning bring the proper zoning for the future use as needed by the Meade County Chamber of Commerce and Industrial Authority. Both agencies are in the process of purchasing the property with recently acquired funding of $250,000 from the Meade County Fiscal Court. The council will hear and approved the second reading during their August meeting. <\/p>\n

The council awarded Bill and Pam Corum as the July Yard of the Month. <\/p>\n
