According to Meade County Sheriff’s Office, 28 year-old Cory W. Vatter, of Payneville, led deputies through several roads in Payneville before crossing into Breckinridge County on Hwy 259. Vatter left the roadway and entered the Yellowbank WMA at Chenault School Road leading deputies through two miles of rough terrain before running his vehicle into a creek causing it to be disabled. He then fled on foot through a wooded area.<\/p>\n
After several hours, Vatter was located on foot by deputies on Hwy 259. He was apprehended by a Louisville Metro Police K-9 and suffered injuries to his upper left arm from the K-9 bite. With the assistance of several agencies, Vatter was taken into custody without further incident and lodged in the Meade County Detention Center.<\/p>\n
Vatter is charged with Arson 2nd degree, Burglary 2nd degree, Fleeing or Evading Police 1st degree (vehicle), Fleeing or Evading Police 1st degree (foot) and 3 counts of Wanton Endangerment 1st degree.<\/p>\n
