D\u2019Shaun Williams, 21, of Morgantown and Alexandria Cooper, 23, of Bowling Green, were both charged with first-degree criminal abuse of a child younger than 12-year-old.<\/p>\n
On October 5, the Bowling Green Police Department and child protective services responded to the Medical Center Emergency Room in reference to a 6-month-old with a broken ankle.<\/p>\n
On October 12, the baby was seen at Vanderbilt Hospital for multiple fractures across it\u2019s body, and a doctor located eight new rib fractures the following day along with healing fractures.<\/p>\n
On Monday and Wednesday, officers interviewed Cooper, who is the child\u2019s mother.<\/p>\n
Cooper told police the baby is usually under the care of either herself or the baby\u2019s stepfather, who was identified as Williams.<\/p>\n
Police said Cooper had text messages that showed that she was aware of abuse happening, and police focused on one message where she \u201cacknowledged D\u2019Shaun was shaking the baby, which could cause brain damage.\u201d<\/p>\n
Cooper told police \u201cshe could not believe she was this blind in ignoring D\u2019Shaun\u2019s aggressive behavior with the baby,\u201d according to the citation.<\/p>\n
Both remain housed in the Warren County Jail. Cooper\u2019s bail is $10,000 cash bond and Williams\u2019 bail is a $15,000 cash bond.
