Members of the Brandenburg City Council worked through a short agenda during their regular meeting Monday (1\/9) night.<\/p>\n
Mayor Bryan Claycomb asked the council appoint Quin Lynch to a vacated seat on the Industrial Authority, which Claycomb had resigned from. Claycomb said that he resigned as a voting member on the Industrial Authority to allow him to fully represent the interests of the city. The Brandenburg Mayor already sits on the Industrial Authority board. The council approved the appointment. The Mayor asked the council to rehire all city staff at their present positions and pay rates as a house keeping item to begin the new administration. The voted unanimous in favor the request.<\/p>\n
Mayor Claycomb said the issue with garbage collection within city limits will be resolved. Currently, the city is awaiting removal of about 143 dumpsters owned by Waste Management. The transition between trash collectors has not went according to plan. The city has began a recycling pickup which will continue to be used during the foreseeable future. <\/p>\n
Police Chief Brian Hagg reported to the council that 923 hours were worked with the 3 COP volunteers which assisted during the past year with various activities. He said anyone interested in participating in the program can apply at Brandenburg City Hall during regular hours. Chief Hagg reported police calls were down during December with 271 calls of service noted.<\/p>\n
The City Public Works Department worked several water leaks during the recent cold weather which causes pipes to burst. Public Works Director TJ Hughes said that some repairs to potholes and pavement are on hold until the city gets more cold patch to make those repairs. The new playground equipment has been delivered and will be installed in the coming weeks as crews have time. <\/p>\n
Toward the end of the meeting, the council discussed the sewer plant construction project and are in discussions with the contractor to work through pending issues to get the plant up and running. No time estimates were given for the adjustments to be made within. <\/p>\n
