Kevin Schmidt, 26 of Bowling Green, was charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree unlawful imprisonment, tampering with physical evidence, impersonating a peace officer and fourth-degree assault.<\/p>\n
According to court records, Bowling Green Police responded to a disturbance on Village Creek Drive.<\/p>\n
Police say when they arrived, Schmidt told police he had pepper sprayed his wife and her new boyfriend.<\/p>\n
Schmidt told police he was acting in \u201cofficial peace officer capacity\u201d and \u201cinvestigating a crime.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to the citation, Schmidt told police he had found a glass pipe with suspected marijuana residue inside a cabinet in the kitchen.<\/p>\n
He stated the boyfriend had threatened him with physical harm, so he pepper sprayed him twice due to the threat.<\/p>\n
The boyfriend told Schmidt, \u201cIf you pepper spray me, I\u2019ll rip your face off.\u201d<\/p>\n
The wife told police Schmidt had told her, she and her boyfriend were detained due to the pending investigation.<\/p>\n
The glass pipe with suspected marijuana was seized by police.<\/p>\n
Schmidt was arrested and taken to the Warren County Regional Jail and later transferred to the Barren County Detention Center.<\/p>\n
Warren County Jailer Stephen Harmon said Kevin Schmidt is on administrative suspension without pay pending the outcome of the case.<\/p>\n
Schmidt remains in the Barren County Detention Center under a $6,000 cash bond with a court date set for February 3.
