Catherine \u201cAbby\u201d McKinney pleaded guilty on Friday to manslaughter, abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence in connection to the death of Serenity McKinney.<\/p>\n
Serenity was last seen in December 2020 and was reported missing by her grandparents a month later.<\/p>\n
In February 2022, Kentucky State Police found Serenity\u2019s body in a wooded area inside a green suitcase near the Jefferson-Bullitt County line. The Bullitt County Coroner confirmed the results later in August.<\/p>\n
Prosecutors offered McKinney a plea deal dropping charges from murder to manslaughter in order to get her to agree to testify against her boyfriend, Dakota Hill, who is the other suspect in this case.<\/p>\n
Under the deal, McKinney will get a 12-year sentence and will have to serve at least a decade.<\/p>\n
A judge needs to sign off on the plea deal for McKinney. Hill is scheduled to appear in court in June.
