\nNews details are being released surrounding the fatal double shooting in Breckinridge County.<\/p>\n

According to the Breckinridge County Sheriff’s Department, the shooting took lace around 2 pm Thursday afternoon at parking lot of an abandoned gas station in Garfield along US 60.<\/p>\n

The shooting was a result of a altercation between 34 year-old Johnny Ray Thompson and 22 year-old Brandon Williams both of Irvington ending with Williams shooting Thompson multiple times. A passenger with Williams, 22 year-old James Michael Wardrip of Irvington, told police that he was standing behind Thompson’s truck when he heard the shots looked up to see Williams pointing a gun at him and fired multiple times hitting Williams once. Wardrip made a statement at the scene to a sheriff deputy and then left the scene. Later Thursday night, Wardrip contacted police wanting to speak more about the shooting. After making further statement with police, Wardrip was arrested on a charge of murder.<\/p>\n

Thompson was pronounced dead at the scene by the Breckinridge County Deputy Coroner. Williams was taken to pBreckinridge Memorial Hospital and then transferred to University of Louisville Hospital where he later died Thursday night.<\/p>\n

Upon the investigation, it appears that the argument began over a girlfriend. The shooting remains under investigation.<\/p>\n
