Sgt. Travis Cook of the Hardin County Sheriff\u2019s Department said the driver of a semi-truck apparently did not see another semi-truck in front of him had stopped because of the construction, and collided with the stopped vehicle.<\/p>\n
Preliminary investigation shows the driver of the moving truck did nothing to avoid the collision, so Cook said it is likely he did not notice the stopped vehicle.<\/p>\n
A third semi-truck, which also was stopped in construction traffic, was impacted by the collision to its rear.<\/p>\n
The truck that caused the collision caught on fire, which resulted in all lanes of traffic being closed for several hours. The lanes reopened late Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n
The driver of the truck that initially impacted the others died and a passenger in the cab of that truck was sent to Louisville with life threatening injuries.<\/p>\n
The driver of the second truck was sent to Baptist Health Hardin in Elizabethtown with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the third truck was uninjured.
