Dakota Hill was convicted of murder for killing Serenity McKinney.<\/p>\n
McKinney was last seen by extended family in December 2020. They filed a missing person\u2019s report in January 2022. By February, Dakota Hill and Serenity\u2019s mother \u2018Abby\u2019 McKinney were both charged with murder.<\/p>\n
\u2018Abby\u2019 McKinney\u2019s charge was dropped to manslaughter earlier this year. She will serve at least 10 years in prison.<\/p>\n
Inside Bullitt Circuit Court, Hill read a prepared apology to the court and to Serenity McKinney\u2019s extended family.<\/p>\n
Serenity was often in the care of her paternal grandmother, Melody Roller who said she hadn\u2019t seen Serenity since 2020.<\/p>\n
She lost contact with \u2018Abby McKinney\u2019 and Dakota Hill after the two of them left the state. That is when the family reported her missing.
