Officers responded to ‘an assault in progress’ call at the Muse BG apartment complex on Russellville Road around 10:00 p.m.<\/p>\n
According to the report, when officers arrived, they found a man trying to help 21 year-old Ayanna Morgan. The responding officer stated Morgan was saying \u201cGod forgive me,\u201d and she couldn\u2019t breathe.<\/p>\n
Police said Morgan was shot two times. She was airlifted to a Nashville hospital, where police said she died early Monday morning.<\/p>\n
Investigators said the man who was trying to help Morgan was a food delivery driver. He told police that he and his girlfriend saw a Hispanic man coming around the corner of the building and doing a \u201cgun\u201d motion with his hand. Additionally, he told police a navy blue Jeep Patriot was speeding through the parking lot and almost hit him. The pair told police the driver looked like a Black woman wearing glasses in her mid-20s with dreads. However, they stated the Jeep was driving too fast to see anyone else in it.<\/p>\n
Police said the man did not hear any gunshots in the area when he first arrived at the Muse. According to the report, he found Morgan after an unknown man flagged him down stating something was wrong. He rendered aid until officers and EMS arrived on the scene.<\/p>\n
Western Kentucky University has confirmed that Morgan was a student and encourages individuals in need of counseling to contact their Counseling Center at (270) 745-3159.<\/p>\n
Investigators believe Morgan was involved in a brief struggle prior to being shot, according to a release from the Bowling Green Police Department.<\/p>\n
Advanced crime scene processors and detectives were called to the scene.<\/p>\n
Police said a suspect was not immediately known. Detectives are working to locate any surveillance video and speak to the residents who may help determine a suspect.<\/p>\n
