\nA line of severe storms that moved through the region Thursday(3\/31) afternoon.<\/p>\n

A mid afternoon lines of storms caused several reports of wind damage from Daviess County near Owensboro through Breckinridge and Meade County and through the Louisville metro area. In Breckinridge County the winds estimated at 70 plus mile per hour peeled the roof off of gym at Breckinridge County Middle School while students were inside the school preparing for the end of the day. No injuries were reported and school officials held up dismissal of the school day to allow the storms to pass. About a half mile away the straight line winds turned over a mobile home and damaged out buildings in the Nancy Butler Trailer Park. One person suffered a broken arm and another person suffered minor injuries. The trailer park was also evacuated a short time due to a possible gas leak.<\/p>\n

Just after the storms pressed through the area, Meade County RECC reported about 1,400 power outages in Breckinridge County and around 500 customers were without power due to the strong gusty winds with the storms. Most customers had been restored within a few hours. <\/p>\n

Other reports of downed trees and power lines and minor damage were reported across Ohio County and in the Louisville metro area and Bullitt County. Numerous warnings were issued during the afternoon line of storms. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
