The first ordinance was to rezone property along Ready Mix Road owned by Tim Jackson from I-2 to C-2 for additional development of storage units.

The Council also heard the first reading of a rezoning ordinance requested by WCM Land for property owned by Chris McGehee near the intersection of the Bypass and Battletown Road changing the zoning from R-1 and C-2 to C-2, R-3, and R-2 to allow for the development of residential and commercial use on the property recently annexed into the city limits. During the discussion, a representative of the project said that the request was needed to allow the development of condominiums along with single dwelling homes, with the commercial development available near the Bypass side of the property.

The council heard a third rezoning ordinance requesting a parcel of land at Saint John’s Catholic Church to be rezoned from Ag and C-1 to C-1. Councilman Bruce Fackler voiced no opposition to the zoning requests but noted that a member of the Planning and Zoning Commission or information of their finding of facts should be presented to the council for the group to make a informed vote on the requests.

In an unrelated issue, Quinn Lynch asked the council to consider a variance on a the road width for his development from about 60 to 50 feet. He said that the request comes from planning of use of curbing instead of ditch lines to route drainage water which would allow more usable land parcels. City Attorney Jessica Roberts provided guidance to have Lynch bring the issue before the council because the city road ordinance was direct by the council not the Planning and Zoning Commission. Lynch intends to bring updated information to the planning and zoning commission within the next month and is hopeful to start work by the end of the calendar year.

In other business, city leaders set Trick or Treat hours in the city limits of Brandenburg from 5:30 pm until 8 pm on Tuesday, October 31.

Mayor Bryan Claycomb reported the work on the Main Street project was still ongoing. He said that the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet had planned to begin mill work this past Friday but was delayed due to weather. He said once the milling work is down to allow the slopes for water drainage, the city’s contractor will remove the old creamy building in the curve of the roadway, then the Transportation Cabinet will pave Main Street to complete the project.

At the beginning of the meeting, the council recognized Kenny Smith as the October Yard of The Month. This will be the final award until the next growing season.

You can watch the entire meeting of the Brandenburg City Council in the our “On Demand” section.

Members of the Brandenburg City Council worked through zoning requests during their regular meeting Monday (10/9) night.

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false
_jetpack_featured_image_duplicate_dismissed":0
_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false
[69

post-44959","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-archive","entry
"publishpress_future_workflow_manual_trigger":
["GET
