Republican Senate President Robert Stivers says the negotiations went very well and talks will continue into Thursday.<\/p>\n
Stivers and Democratic House Speaker Greg Stumbo are members of a bipartisan committee attempting to come up with a compromise on how to spend more than $65 billion of public money over the next two years. Republicans have a majority in the Senate while Democrats have a majority in the House.<\/p>\n
The legislature will reconvene on Tuesday for the final time this year. If lawmakers do not pass a budget, Republican Governor Matt Bevin would have to call an expensive special session or risk a partial shutdown of state government services.<\/p>\n
