Chris Reiter and Tiffany Napier were in the circuit clerk’s office at the time to get documents for an upcoming court case in Hardin County, when a Circuit Clerk worker instructed the clerk that was assisting Reiter to cease her assistance and walk away. Reiter began to raise his voice demanding to know the identity of the worker, who had interrupted the transaction as he and his girl friend recorded their visit on multiple cameras and phones from outside of the building. <\/p>\n
The Circuit Clerk workers called for the assistance of the Meade County Sheriff’s Department, which responded promptly. Upon the arrival, Chief Deputy Ray Whited found Reiter talking loudly demanding information and when Deputy Whited attempted to talk with Reiter to understand the situation, Reiter denied the officer’s request and pursued a verbal altercation with Deputy Whited.<\/p>\n
After a few minutes of the confrontation with both Reiter and Napier, Deputy Whited arrested both parties and charged each with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. In a statement issued by Meade County Sheriff Phillip Wimpee, “The individuals were arrested for acting in a disorderly manner outlined in KRS 525.060.” He continued, “that the individuals were not arrested because they were recording.” <\/p>\n
Sheriff Wimpee said “We strive to provide the best possible service to citizens and will continue to do so. The safety of all is of our upmost importance.”<\/p>\n
Both Reiter and Napier were lodged in the Meade County Detention Center and have since been released.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
