Multiple Bowling Green Police officers arrived on scene just before 6 p.m. after a witness reported seeing a male running into Dillard\u2019s from the parking lot. The witness advised the male had a large amount of blood on him and it looked as if his neck had been cut.<\/p>\n
Police received a call of an unknown trouble at Dillard\u2019s in Greenwood Mall.<\/p>\n
When police arrived on scene, officers were informed the male, later identified as 31 year-old John Bixby of Auburn, had exited Dillard\u2019s and entered Belk. Minutes after being on scene, while in the police vehicle attempting to locate Bixby in the parking lot, officers were informed via radio that he had returned to the area of Dillard\u2019s, and he was on foot running.<\/p>\n
An ambulance crew was on site, trying to get Bixby to stop so they could give him aid. Bixby was able to say he was struck but did not know what he was hit with or who may have assaulted him.<\/p>\n
Bixby finally stopped on the sidewalk next to Dillard\u2019s. He had blood coming from the right side of his head.<\/p>\n
According to the citation, Bixby was noticeably under the influence of drugs. He could not or would not provide a statement. He could not tell police what happened.<\/p>\n
According to police, Bixby only said, \u201cI got hit,\u201d and denied knowing the person(s) who assaulted him.<\/p>\n
Police say Bixby had large amount of cash in his right coat pocket that was primarily $20 bills. Bixby asked the location of his money several times while at the hospital. He believed someone was possibly trying to take his money. The money was logged into Bowling Green Police Department evidence for safe keeping.<\/p>\n
When asked why he had so much money, Bixby said he was a good gambler and he had won the money at the Mint Gaming Hall. He denied the incident having anything to do with a drug transaction or attempted drug robbery.<\/p>\n
Bixby had two lacerations on his head and was transported to the Medical Center via ambulance where he was given medical aid and medically cleared after receiving eight staples to close his lacerations.<\/p>\n
This case is under investigation.<\/p>\n
Bixby was arrested and taken to the Warren County Regional Jail on multiple unrelated warrants.
