The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has the identified the victim as Calvin Ray Bloyd, who died at UofL Hospital just after 5 a.m. from blunt force injuries sustained in a motor vehicle collision.<\/p>\n
It happened around 4:15 a.m., according to a news release from Louisville Metro Police spokesperson Dwight Mitchell. Officers received a call about a crash involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Fern Valley Road and Old Shepherdsville Road.<\/p>\n
Investigators determined Bloyd was standing outside his stopped vehicle in the eastbound lanes of Fern Valley Road when he was hit by a driver who didn’t stop. <\/p>\n
Bloyd was then hit by a second vehicle, a pickup truck, according to the news release. The driver of the pickup stayed at the scene.<\/p>\n
The incident remains under investigation by the Louisville Metro Police Department’s Traffic Unit.
