United States Attorney for the Middle Tennessee District Henry Leventis said Korbein Schultz, an Army intelligence agent at Fort Campbell, was arrested Thursday morning for selling all types of national intelligence information to a Chinese conspirator.<\/p>\n
Leventis alleges Schultz has shared information with China for years.<\/p>\n
A six-count federal indictment was unsealed on Thursday charging Schultz with conspiracy to unlawfully communicate defense information, unlawful export of defense articles to China.<\/p>\n
Leventis said Schultz is charged with entering into a multi-year conspiracy to illegally exploit his access to national defense information for his own financial benefit.<\/p>\n
Since June 2022, records show Schultz shared documents, maps, pans, notes, pictures and missile tactics and received thousands of dollars.<\/p>\n
Leventis claimed Shultz was paid $42,000 in 14 installments.<\/p>\n
The indictment mentions exchanges where Schultz tells the Chinese conspirator that he wished he could be Jason Bourne.<\/p>\n
In another instance the conspirator told Schultz he wanted to meet him at a Formula One race overseas and make him a \u201csenior partner\u201d with a big signing bonus.<\/p>\n
Schultz and his co-conspirator also discussed recruiting another member of the U.S. military to join their conspiracy and provide additional national defense information, according to Leventis.<\/p>\n
Schultz was set to appear in federal court on Friday.
