The court also approved resolutions to set fees from most of the mentioned ordinances along with Electrical Inspections, and a resolution for the Deferred Compensation Plan Agreement for county employees.

The court heard several comments related to the Heavy Industrial Ordinance once again as residents who live near the rock quarries in Battletown and Wolf Creek continue to seek assistance to hold the mining companies responsible for safe practices to protect personal property and safety of residents. Lawyers representing the quarries said they feel that the ordinance has an agenda against them but will also negatively impact other industries in the county as a result of the measure. After another in-depth discussion on the topic and at the recommendation of the County Attorney to go with the Planning & Zoning’s Land Use attorney’s recommendation, magistrates approved the ordinance.

The topic rekindled later in the meeting as magistrates viewed the Planning and Zoning Commission’s recommendation to deny a rezoning map change request related to the quarry in Wolf Creek. After additional similar discussion, the court voted in favor of the planning commission’s suggestion.

In other business, magistrates heard and approved several resolutions to allow Judge Executive Troy Kok to sign needed documents related to separate grant applications that are actively being worked on to include the Rubber Modified Asphalt Program; Rural & Secondary Roads 20-35 Bridge Program; Crumb Rubber & Recycled Tire Program; Recycling Grant Program; and the 911 Services Board 2024 Grant Application Program. The pre-approved list will assist County Grant Writer Jordan Wilson to quickly work through the application process in order to meet deadlines for the specific grant requirements.

County leaders approved the plans and agreement with Newcomb Oil Company to relocate Nelson Lane to the traffic signal with state roads 313 and 933.
