\nA 57-year-old Columbia man was arrested after shooting and killing an elderly man in Adair County.<\/p>\n
\nA 57-year-old Columbia man was arrested after shooting and killing an elderly man in Adair County.<\/p>\n
Kentucky State Police said the incident happened Saturday morning on Old Montpelier Road.<\/p>\n
In their preliminary investigation, police said Joseph South of Columbia was being evicted from a property he was renting from 86-year-old Earl Coffey.<\/p>\n
Police said South went to the home and fired several shots, which hit Coffey and resulted in his death.<\/p>\n
Four other people were also inside the home at the time of the shooting.<\/p>\n
Police said South was arrested at the scene by the Adair County Sheriff’s Office.<\/p>\n
He was charged with murder and four counts of wanton endangerment.<\/p>\n
South is currently being held at the Adair County Regional Jail.
