In February of 2022, Quintez Brown went to Greenberg\u2019s campaign office in fired a gun six times. Police arrested Brown shortly after and charged him with attempted murder and four counts of wanton endangerment.<\/p>\n
Defense attorneys for Brown filed a preliminary report In March 2023 from a psychologist expressing concern over his mental state and recommending a \u201cfull battery of neuropsychological testing.\u201d The next day, the defense counsel notified the prosecution of their intent to use an insanity defense.<\/p>\n
The full psychological examination completed in November 2023 found that he suffered from a mental disease at the time of the shooting that left him unable to grasp the wrongfulness of his actions.<\/p>\n
A motion filed last Wednesday calls that evaluation into question.<\/p>\n
The prosecution raised concerns over the effectiveness of the exam and if the previously recommended neuropsychological testing ever happened. They cite a Supreme Court ruling that allows the prosecution to offer their own psychiatric evidence in response to the defense\u2019s.<\/p>\n
Prosecutors said that not having their own evaluation \u201cdenies the government its most effective manner of rebuttal \u2013 the opinion of another expert.\u201d
