The Kentucky National Guard will see a lot of that money, resulting in new facilities across the state.<\/p>\n
That includes, but is not limited to, a vehicle maintenance facility in Boone County, a new machine gun range in Muhlenberg County and improvements at the Kentucky National Guard headquarters in Frankfort.<\/p>\n
Thursday, Senator Mitch McConnell and Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear spoke with service members in Frankfort about the importance of funding national security.<\/p>\n
\u201dFunding preparedness is a lot cheaper than than funding a war,\u201d said<\/p>\n
McConnell said in World War II, we were up to 37% of our GDP in defense spending. Right now, we\u2019re spending 2% and that number needs to come up.<\/p>\n
Other benefactors of the federal funding will include Fort Knox and Fort Campbell.
