\nA Louisville-area paramedic died while swimming at Barren River Lake on Monday afternoon.<\/p>\n
The man was identified as 35 year-old Christian Smith, from Louisville.<\/p>\n
Cody Fox with Kentucky Fish and Wildlife said a call came in around 3:25 p.m., and a man was later recovered in a cove near the state park.<\/p>\n
Fox says witnesses told Fish and Wildlife he jumped off the back of a boat and never resurfaced.<\/p>\n
Smith was not wearing a life jacket.<\/p>\n
Smith was a sergeant paramedic at Anchorage Middletown Fire & EMS in Louisville and had been with the department since 2014.<\/p>\n
Fox said no foul play is suspected at this time.<\/p>\n
The case remains under investigation.
