\nA Jeffersonville home-based day care provider, who has been jailed since June after an infant in her care died in 2022, is now charged with battering a 2-month-old. <\/p>\n
According to a news release from Indiana State Police, officials began investigating a complaint reported to the Indiana Department of Child Services (DCS) in February 2024.<\/p>\n
During Indiana State Police’s investigation, a detective determined the 2-month-old child was in a car seat and crying when picked up by a family member from Brittany Baylor’s unlicensed home-based day care. <\/p>\n
According to Indiana State Police, the family member allegedly noticed the child\u2019s leg was extremely sensitive while changing a diaper. That is when the mom took the child to Norton\u2019s Children\u2019s Hospital in Louisville.<\/p>\n
Doctors there found the child had a broken right leg. A Norton\u2019s Pediatric Protection Specialist subsequently stated the injury was diagnostic of inflicted child physical abuse. After further investigation and interviews with the Department of Child Services staff, information was submitted to the Clark County Prosecutor\u2019s Office for review.<\/p>\n
An arrest warrant was issued, and Baylor was served with new charges of battery resulting in serious bodily injury and neglect of a dependent resulting in serious bodily injury while being held at the Clark County Jail on a $1,000,000 bond.
