\nA man was sentenced to 18 years in prison Monday after pleading guilty for a crash that killed 17-year-old Mohammed Hussein.<\/p>\n

The crash happened in April of 2023 at the intersection of Shepherdsville and Newburg roads. Erick Ocampo Gonzalez was driving north on Shepherdsville Road when he crashed into the back of a Toyota that pushed forward into a Poniac and that Pontiac into a Buick. Several people were taken to the hospital that night, including Hussein who was a passenger in the Toyota. Hussein later died from his injuries.<\/p>\n
Police said Ocampo Gonzalez made no attempt to brake before crashing into the car and his blood alcohol level was .338, four times the legal limit.<\/p>\n
Monday, Ocampo Gonzalez pled guilty to vehicular homicide, wanton endangerment, operating without a license, and operating while under the influence.<\/p>\n
Ocampo Gonzalez must serve 85% of his 18 year sentence before he is eligible for parole and must complete alcohol treatment. He is also required to pay a fine of $10,000.
