\nSeveral showers and thunderstorms rumbled into the Ohio River Valley Tuesday (4\/26) afternoon and evening.<\/p>\n

The main line of storms swept through the region around 9 pm EDT bringing heavy rain, gusty winds and pea sized hail to a large swath of the region. In Southern Illinois and Western Kentucky numerous reports of wind damage and hail reports were received by the National Weather Service. Locally several reports of downed trees and power lines were reported down as the storms moved through. A 46 mph wind gust was reported at Fort Knox while a 52 mph gust was reported around the Battletown community. Numerous weather alerts blanketed the area.<\/p>\n

The forecast is calling for unsettled weather to continue the day or so as storing to severe thunderstorms are expected to redevelop during Wednesday (4\/27) through Thursday (4\/28) with the primary threat being strong gusty winds up 60 mph, large hail and heavy rainfall along with cloud to ground lightning. The Storm Prediction Center has placed the region into a marginal to slight risk category for severe weather. <\/p>\n

Remember a watch means conditions are favorable for severe weather to develop. A warning means that severe weather is likely by detection of Doppler radar or has been witnessed by trained storm spotters. If a warning issued take cover in a sturdy building away from doors and windows and do not use electronic equipment until the storm has passed.<\/p>\n
