The approval comes as the nation faces the largest summer wave of COVID-19 cases in two years.<\/p>\n
The updated Pfizer and Moderna shots were approved for people six months and older. It is designed to protect against the current variants of the virus.<\/p>\n
You can get the vaccine when you get your flu shot.<\/p>\n
Dr. Mark Burns, Infectious Disease expert for UofL Health, said because what we want to do is to help improve not only everyone’s health, but studies are beginning to show that when you talk about things such as long COVID, they are beginning to find people who are vaccinated are less likely to come down with symptoms of long COVID versus those who are unvaccinated.<\/p>\n
You can also protect yourself by washing your hands, social distancing when and where appropriate, and cleaning surfaces. If you are sick, stay home.
