The preliminary investigation revealed that a 17 year old male, of Coxs Creek, was operating a 2016 Ford Fusion westbound on the Bluegrass Parkway when for unknown reasons, he crossed the median and into the path of a 2016 Cadillac Escalade traveling eastbound, operated by 41 year-old Patrick Reed, of Bardstown.<\/p>\n
The juvenile was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Nelson County Coroner’s Office. Reed and two passengers, were flown to University of Louisville Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. <\/p>\n
The affected portion of the Bluegrass Parkway was closed for several hours in order to allow troopers to reconstruct the collision. Kentucky State Police was assisted at the scene by Nelson County EMS, Nelson County Fire and Rescue and the Nelson County Coroner’s Office. <\/p>\n
