Guy J. Turcotte had been accused in early 2023 by a woman at a Glasgow pet store who claimed he inappropriately touched her and signed a piece of paper with a heart. He was later fired following an administrative hearing conducted by Glasgow Mayor Henry Royse on July 18, 2023.<\/p>\n
On September 27, a jury found Turcotte not guilty and dismissed the case with prejudice, meaning it cannot be brought back to court, according to court documents.<\/p>\n
Judge Kristi Castillo presided over the trial, with Matthew Baker serving as Turcotte\u2019s defense attorney.<\/p>\n
The trial was moved to Monroe County after a change of venue was requested.<\/p>\n
Turcotte had served as a detective until his termination, and prior to that, he held various positions with the Glasgow Police Department, including chief. He ran for Barren County sheriff in 2022 but was unsuccessful.<\/p>\n
Following his dismissal, Turcotte filed a lawsuit against the Glasgow Police Department and the city of Glasgow. The lawsuit was dismissed in Barren Circuit Court but is currently on appeal.
