The court approved trick or treat hours in the unincorporated areas of the county to be held on Thursday, October 31 from 5:30 until 8 PM. They approved a proclamation recognizing the week of October 13-19 as Meade County Homemakers Association Week. The court approved the 2025 health insurance rates which resulted in a reduced rate according to the information presented. <\/p>\n
Magistrates approved the advertising to hire a Animal Control Director, Road Department operator and labor positions at the Solid Waste and Recycling facility. They also approved two 30 day temporary hires for the animal shelter. The court approved a donation request of $3,000 from the City of Brandenburg for the annual Christmas By The River event. <\/p>\n
The court pre-approved approximately $16,000 for the upcoming general election fees for the Meade County Clerk. They also approved the Sheriff’s excess fees of $137 to the general fund. Magistrates approved audit reports from the state for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2023. County Treasurer Tammy Graham said no issues were found in the audit but it was noted that the jail commissary budget was not properly prepared for a second year. Magistrate Trey Webb asked if a representative of the jail was presented to explain to the court what corrective actions were planned to correct the issue. No one from the Jail was in attendance of the meeting Tuesday night. The issue will be added to the agenda for the November meeting.<\/p>\n
The court additional audit reported related to the US Department of Treasury and the Administrative Office of the Courts which found everything in proper compliance. The court approved a resolution for the expenditure of $1,547,635.18 of America Rescue Plan Act Funds to be used for governmental services. The earmarked funds must be spent before December 31, 2024. <\/p>\n
The court approved the second readings of ordinances adding Planning and Zoning B1\/ B2 to allow split business with dwellings on the same site in the county; and the updating the Code of Ethics and related forms. They also approved compensating Ethic Committee members $50 per meeting to help spur participation on the ethic commission.<\/p>\n
Magistrates met during a hour long closed session for the purposes of discussions of personnel, proposed or pending litigation, and discussions between a public agency and business entity concerning a specific proposal. The court returned from the closed session with no action taken.<\/p>\n
The November meeting of the Meade County Fiscal Court will be a special called meeting as it will be the next road stop of court’s townhall and meeting series. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 12 at Weldon Christian Church fellowship hall. The evening will begin with a open townhall at 6 pm with the Fiscal Court business session to start at 7 pm. <\/p>\n
