At the beginning of the meeting, Mayor David Pace and Police Brian Haag introduced Police Officer Brandon Sawicki as the newest member of the Brandenburg Police Department. Officer Sawicki is a certified and has previously worked with Louisville Metro Police and Floyd County, Indiana Sheriff Office. Chief Haag said that his department is fully staffed with the recent hiring.<\/p>\n<p>In other business, the council heard and approved the second reading of ordinances amending the ABC licensing and regulations and the rezoning of patio homes along Lawrence Street. The council approved Trick or Treat hours for October 31 from 5:30 until 8 pm. The council tabled three home occupational license applications pending the result of action of City Planning and Zoning Commission findings.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor David Pace provided request information related to write in voting during the upcoming council election in November. According to information obtained from County Clerk Susan Masterson, voters can ask the Election Clerk is there are write in candidates. A list will be presented to the voter which must stay at the desk of the Election Clerk. At the privacy booth, the voter can write in the name of the certified write-in candidate that was on the list presented to them by the Election Clerk. Any write-in names that are not on the certified list will not be counted for the specific race. At the end of the night once all voting cartridges are\u00a0 returned to the County Clerk&#8217;s office. The County Clerk along with members of the County Board of Elections will verify each write-in vote determining if the write in candidate was on the certified list.\u00a0Anyone seeking to be a certified write -in candidate must register with County Clerk&#8217;s office by October 25, in order to be on the list.\u00a0 Currently, the candidate list for the Brandenburg City Council who had already filed prior to the regular deadline are Bruce Fackler, Mark Spry, and Rhonda Allen. Anyone with questions regarding the general election can contact the County Clerk&#8217;s office.<\/p>\n<p>Due to the Veterans Day holiday, the council voted to move their regular business meeting to a special called meeting a week earlier to Monday, November 4 at 7 PM.
