Court documents said Louisville Metro Police Department was given an anonymous tip the men were fighting their birds from September 23 through October 10, 2024. Joel Garcia and Raul Alsina are each charged with four counts of cruelty to animals.<\/p>\n
Arrest warrants said the complaint included videos of the two men making and watching the roosters fight. During the search warrants at their property on Sun Valley Drive, officers confiscated four roosters, four hens, and six baby chicks.<\/p>\n
Police said some of the birds had open wounds.<\/p>\n
Officers also said they found cockfighting paraphernalia including vitamins and supplements, sparring mitts, weighted leg wraps, and a dummy rooster that is usually used to train the birds. Both men were arrested On October 23 and were taken to Louisville Metro Department of Corrections.
