\nAuthorities have identified the man who led police on a high speed chase on I-65 from Bowling Green to Hardin County Thursday afternoon. <\/p>\n
Kentucky State Police said 26 year-old Jecore Monte King, of Eight Mile, Alabama, was stopped by a trooper near Mammoth Cave in Hart County on October 24. An arrest citation said King\u2019s car did not have registration displayed. King told the trooper he did not have a driver\u2019s license after being asked and said he was having trouble with the car.<\/p>\n
The citation said the smell of marijuana was coming from King\u2019s car. King was asked to get out of the car. A struggle ensued before King returned to the car and fled from the trooper northbound on I-65.<\/p>\n
King drove more than 20 miles north at 130mph before crashing the car into an embankment and running into a cornfield near Glendale. The citation said King was armed with a handgun when he ran into the field.<\/p>\n
Police shut down I-65 North and US 31 West for several hours, and several nearby businesses were placed on lockdown.<\/p>\n
Homeowners were told to stay indoors and highways turned into parking lots as police created a perimeter to find the suspect.<\/p>\n
Authorities from Elizabethtown Police, Hardin County Sheriff\u2019s Office and Kentucky State Police used helicopters, drones, and officers on the ground to find King. He was apprehended around 7 p.m. without incident and lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center.<\/p>\n
King is being held at the Hardin County Detention Center on multiple charges including possession of marijuana, speeding, reckless driving, resisting arrest, wanton endangerment, and other traffic violations. His bond is set for $25,000 cash. He is due in court Friday, November 1 for his preliminary hearing.
