{"id":49618,"date":"2024-11-13T04:44:43","date_gmt":"2024-11-13T09:44:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.wvih.com\/wp1\/?p=49618"},"modified":"2024-11-13T01:25:39","modified_gmt":"2024-11-13T06:25:39","slug":"magistrates-met-in-the-second-district","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wvih.com\/wp1\/index.php\/2024\/11\/13\/magistrates-met-in-the-second-district\/","title":{"rendered":"Magistrates Met In The Second District"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Members of Meade County Fiscal Court took their meeting to the road this month as they met in the Second Magisterial District Tuesday (11\/12) night at fellowship hall of Weldon Christian Church.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The Court began the evening with a town hall meeting at 6 which was attended by a small group. Judge Executive Troy Kok provided an overview of recent projects and positive impacts that county leaders have accomplished. <\/p>\n<p>During the business session of the special called Fiscal Court meeting, magistrates voted to re-table discussion of a issue with a audit report for the year ending on June 30, 2023 due to the absence of Meade County Jailer J.J. Scarborough. During the October meeting the court asked the the jailer be present during the next meeting in order to discuss issues of deficiencies found in his section of the audit. County Attorney Sidney Durham provided a message from Scarborough which indicated that he had emailed members of the court and believed that he had provided answers to their questions. Magistrates again provide the directive to have Jailer Scarborough in person to provide his comments in open public discussion. <\/p>\n<p>The court heard a presentation from the Knox Regional Development Alliance which explained the focus and mission of the organization and the importance of the support from the region around Fort Knox. The court approved the request from EMS Director Jerome Morgan, to seek bids for a one box swap and one new ambulance. They also approved to seek bids for the design and construction of a new building at the Solid Waste and Recycling Center, which will replace a former building that was lost to fire recently.<\/p>\n<p>The court approved two planning and zoning map amendments. They also heard the first reading of a Planning and Zoning ordinance related to signs and outdoors advertising permits. The ordinance would require the registration of all signs in the county and would prohibit additional billboards and large signage in rural areas of the county. In addition, it would require existing signs be registered in the Planning and Zoning Office for record of ownership. There would be no registration fee on existing signs until March 29, 2025. after that deadline a penalty could be issued for no registered signs. The court discussed the issue and approved the first reading by Judge Executive Kok casting a vote in favor of motion to break to 3 vote magistrates.<\/p>\n<p>The court also discussed and approved the IRB issuance for Green River Solar. The action is to execute the documents between the Meade County and Green River Solar with interlocal agreement with Breckinridge County Fiscal Court, who will carry the financial reporting on the bond for the next 25 years.
