William Qualls, 61, was originally charged with manslaughter after he shot and killed 21-year-old Jordan Qualls at a home in the 2500 block of Ralph Avenue in Shively in June 2023. <\/p>\n
William Qualls reportedly told officers he went to get a gun as his son was arguing with two relatives, according to court documents. <\/p>\n
When he came back, he said he saw a relative was on the floor. <\/p>\n
William Qualls told police that is when he shot his son in the head. Police said William Qualls was standing outside with his hands up when officers got there. <\/p>\n
As part of the plea deal, the prosecution recommended a prison sentence of one year. He could have been sentenced to five to 10 years. <\/p>\n
A sentencing hearing is scheduled for December.
