\nAttorney General Russell Coleman announced that a Magoffin County man entered a guilty plea Friday (11\/22) for the possession and distribution of child sex abuse material and a sexual crime against an animal.<\/p>\n

According to the press release, the action from the Attorney General\u2019s Special Prosecutions Unit resulted in a 10-year recommended sentence for 43-year-old Kent Simpkins of Salyersville.<\/p>\n
After receiving a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, law enforcement searched Simpkins\u2019 IP address and social media.<\/p>\n
They found multiple images of minors involved in sexual acts, numerous animal sex videos, and a video of Simpkins involved in a sexual act with the family\u2019s dog.<\/p>\n
This week, he pleaded guilty to seven felony counts and will receive a 10-year sentence, per the press release.<\/p>\n
As conditions of the plea, he will be a lifetime registrant on the Kentucky Sex Offender Registry and receive five years of post-incarceration supervision.<\/p>\n
The Kentucky State Police Electronic Crimes Branch investigated the case. Assistant Attorney General Lindsey Studebaker prosecuted the case on behalf of the Commonwealth.<\/p>\n
Simpkins will be sentenced on March 6, 2025.
