Oldham County police arrested 53 year-old Jason Edward Cornett and23 year-old Zoe Elise Wolfe, both of La Grange, after serving warrants at a residence on Bluegrass Parkway in La Grange.<\/p>\n
Cornett and Wolfe are each charged with tampering with physical evidence. Cornett is also charged with leaving the scene of an accident and failure to render aid.<\/p>\n
According to Oldham County police, Cornett and Wolfe were in the vehicle that struck 75 year-old Margaret Preble on the evening of November 11, 2024, as she was walking on U.S. 42 between KY 53 and Smith Lane. Preble\u2019s body was discovered by her husband after he went looking for her when she didn\u2019t return from her nightly walk.<\/p>\n
Oldham County police say evidence collected at the scene and information gained from their investigation led detectives to believe that a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 pickup owned by Cornett was the vehicle that struck Preble. With the help of Kentucky State Police, the Silverado was found November 13 at a repair facility in Corbin, Ky.<\/p>\n
After police impounded the pickup and returned it to Oldham County, detectives were able to determine that it was the vehicle they were looking for. The vehicle was located and impounded before any repairs had been made.<\/p>\n
Oldham County Police Department detectives say evidence shows that Cornett was driving the Silverado at the time of the fatal collision. They also say Cornett had been drinking alcoholic beverages a short time before and attempted to conceal his involvement.<\/p>\n
Investigators said Wolfe was the person who drove the damaged pickup out of Oldham County and had been driving it before it was taken to the Corbin repair facility.<\/p>\n
Cornett and Wolfe were booked into the Oldham County Detention Center, but jail officials say Cornett has been released from custody after posting bond.<\/p>\n
Oldham County police said detectives are continuing their investigation and there is the possibility of additional criminal charges.
