Louisville Metro police said 19 year-old Lorenzo T. Johnson was driving under the influence when he ran a red light and crashed on West Broadway just after 3 a.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2024. The crash happened near Dr. W. J. Hodge Street, where the Russell and California neighborhoods meet.<\/p>\n
Johnson is charged with assault, wanton endangerment, criminal mischief, and driving under the influence, according to an arrest citation.<\/p>\n
When LMPD officers got there, they found two cars involved in the crash, one of them had hit a building.<\/p>\n
The arrest report stated Johnson admitted to drinking, and a blood test showed his blood alcohol content was 0.147. That is almost twice the legal limit for someone who is 21 years old.<\/p>\n
Johnson was booked at the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections and was arraigned on Monday.<\/p>\n
The judge found his bond was accidentally set at $50,000, when it was supposed to be $500,000. Johnson\u2019s legal team argued that he has no criminal history and his family\u2019s financial situation would not allow for them to post his bond.<\/p>\n
They asked for a $50,000 bond. The judge agreed to lower Johnson\u2019s bond to $100,000 instead.<\/p>\n
He is set to appear back in court on December 3.
